Autumn in McCall = golden Tamarack trees, crisp mountain air, and lakes that feel like hidden gems. It was in October when we bought our home in McCall and every fall is nostalgic to us. We were so excited to live somewhere that is this GORGEOUS!

This is our 6th season and I’m not sure we will ever leave. . . Two of my favorite fall hikes that show off the magic here:

🥾 Louie Lake Trail – 2.5 miles round-trip, 735 ft gain. A moderate climb that rewards you with a quiet alpine lake where fishing is allowed (with special rules).

🥾 Boulder Lake Trail – 3.2 miles round-trip, 800 ft gain. Another moderate favorite, ending at a stunning lake with plenty of room to cast a line.

Both trails are close enough for a morning adventure yet beautiful enough to make you feel like you’ve escaped into the wild. What’s so cool about having a home here is this is everyday life. Whether you’re dreaming of a vacation home or just want to know the trails locals love, McCall delivers year-round adventure right out your back door.
