At 26, a stroke taught me the difference between working for a living and building a life where I didn't trade my time for income. Real estate gave me the freedom to build a life.
I bent down to pick up my two-year-old daughter, and when I stood up, I suddenly lost vision in my left eye. That moment was the start of a stroke that landed me in the ICU in San Diego for ten days.
I was only 26.
I made a full recovery after a year, but the experience changed everything.
It forced my husband and me to face the truth that we were trading time for money, and time isn’t guaranteed.
That wake-up call reshaped our entire view of life and money. We wanted to build a legacy for our family, one rooted in freedom, not hustle. So, we pulled a HELOC on our home and bought our first investment property—a cold storage facility for our local wineries. That decision marked the start of something bigger - financial literacy, freedom, and a life built with intention.
Real estate became our path to flexibility, stability, and memory-making. Today, I live with my husband and two daughters in McCall, Idaho, where we’ve built the life we once dreamed about. After a 20-year career in the wine industry, I now help others do the same - buying and selling vacation homes that create both wealth and a life they love.
