Some properties are about the house. This one is about the river.
507 Secesh River Road is a Secesh River cabin for sale with 560 feet of riverfront, Forest Service land at your back, and nothing past you but the end of the road. It’s a 940-square-foot log cabin on 1.77 acres, fully off-grid, and it comes furnished, right down to the teepee.
If you’ve ever wanted a place where the plan for the day is a cup of coffee in a chair on your own bank of the river, keep reading.

The Secesh River runs along the west side of the property and bends around its north end, so the river is part of almost every view. From the upper balcony you look across the meadow to the riverbank. From the dining table you look out at the teepee and the pines.
Inside, it’s one open room on the main floor: log walls, exposed beams, a dining table for six, and a wood stove that heats the space. There’s an old upright piano tucked into the corner by the stove, which tells you a lot about the kind of evenings this cabin was made for. The kitchen has a full-size fridge, a gas range, and butcher-block counters, with a window over the sink that looks into the trees.
Upstairs, the loft bedroom sits under the gable with room for more than one bed, storage under the eaves, and a door that opens onto the balcony. The downstairs bathroom has a tub-and-shower combinatiom, or if you’re a purist, use the outhouse outside.
Outside, there’s a full-width covered porch with room for chairs and a hammock, a fire ring with stump seating, a stone path out toward the meadow, and a teepee on a raised wood platform between the cabin and the river. A log outbuilding houses the generator and winter storage.
Off-grid can mean a lot of things. Here, it means the systems are already in place: solar panels with battery storage, a generator for backup, a private well, and septic. Propane runs the range and fridge, and the wood stove handles the heat.
I’ll be honest with you, the way I am with every buyer: an off-grid cabin asks more of you than a cabin in town. You learn your systems, you keep an eye on your batteries, and you stack firewood before winter. But owning a place like this is mostly about having a good routine. Once you know how the cabin runs, it gets simple, and that simplicity is a big part of why people want a cabin like this in the first place.

This cabin comes ready to use. The included items list covers the living and dining furniture (the dining table with six chairs, a leather couch, two futons, two wingback chairs, and the piano), the kitchen basics (fridge, stove, pots and pans, dishes, and utensils), three beds with mattresses upstairs, the rugs and curtains, the teepee with its canvas, and the generator, solar panels, and solar batteries.
Secesh sits north of McCall, up past Payette Lake. In summer you drive in, about 45 minutes from McCall. In winter, the way in is a groomed snowmobile trail.
For the right buyer, that’s not a drawback. It’s the point. Summer here is river days, fire rings, and long evenings on the porch. Winter is a snowmobile ride in to a wood stove and a quiet you can’t find closer to town. And when you need groceries, a good dinner, or a day on Payette Lake, McCall is close enough.
Every property has a job. This one isn’t trying to be a ski condo or a lake house. It’s a riverfront retreat for someone who wants to step away: a family getaway, a fishing and snowmobiling base, or a place to unplug for a few days at a time. If you’ve been looking at cabins around McCall real estate and wishing for more privacy, more river, and fewer neighbors, this is worth a look.
A place like this is hard to capture in a listing. The sound of the river, how far the meadow opens up, and the quiet at the end of the road are things you have to experience. It’s best to see it in person. Let’s do that, shall we?

In March of 2025, my family purchased a cabin in McCall, Idaho, for $590,000. The goal was not to become millionaires. The goal was simpler and probably more relatable: my in-laws come to McCall every other month and needed a comfortable place to land while they visit their grandchildren (and us), and we needed a […]
